Bread

Nothing beats the smell and taste of homemade bread, fresh from the oven. Enjoy smothered with a thick spread of Pure spread to start to your day.

 50 g PURE SPREAD
 450 g STRONG BREAD FLOUR
 1 ¼ tsp SALT
 ¾ tsp DRIED EASY BAKE YEAST
 2 tsp SUGAR
 300 ml WARM WATER

Preheat oven to 230°C/gas mark 8.

Rub the Pure spread into the flour. Stir in the salt, dried yeast and sugar. Add the warm water and mix in by hand until all the flour is incorporated.

Place dough onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes. Place the dough into a bowl covered with a damp cloth. Leave to prove in a warm place until it has doubled in size (approx. 1 hour).

Place the dough back on the floured surface and knead again for 30 seconds.

FOR A LOAF:

Form the dough into a loaf shape and place in a greased tin. Cover loaf with oiled cling-film.

Prove again until doubled in size.

Bake for 5 minutes at 230°C/gas mark 8. Lower oven temperature to 200°C/gas mark 6 for next 20-25 minutes cooking time until the desired crust colour is achieved.

FOR ROLLS:

Form the dough into individual rolls and place on a greased baking sheet.

Cover the dough rolls with oiled cling-film. Prove again until the rolls have doubled in size.

Bake for 5 minutes at 230°C/gas mark 8. Lower oven temperature to 200°C/400°F/gas mark 6 for next 10 minutes cooking time.
